Edgar’s most recent European appearance was as a member of Ringo Starr’s All-Star Band in 2011. This 2015 European tour follows a run of headline shows and a string of dates with Eric Burden and the Animals in North America.
A child prodigy, Texan born Edgar Winter was already widely proficient when he left home in the 60s.
His 1970 debut album ‘Entrance’ was an immediate success, showing his unique blend of styles, moving from one to another as fluid and dynamic as unexpected. The cover of ‘Tobacco Road’, featuring his late brother Johnny, brought Edgar Winter to the international stage.
Two albums with his band White Trash, also featuring Johnny, followed and were the start of a working relationship with guitarist Rick Derringer. As The Edgar Winter Group a number of high profile albums were released in the 70s, which included the number one hit ‘Frankenstei’n (a track that sees Edgar mix keyboard, percussion and saxophone onstage) and the popular’ Free Ride’, taken from the double platinum LP ‘They Only Come Out At Night’.
Edgar Winter has made numerous TV appearances, from David Letterman to The Simpsons, and his music has been used in countless adverts and films, including the Eminem produced ‘Running (Dying To Live)’ in ‘Tupac Resurrection’.
Edgar collaborated with his brother Johnny throughout his career, including on his most recent studio album, ‘Rebel Road’, which also featured former Guns’n’Roses guitarist Slash. Edgar will pay tribute to Johnny during the set of his winter tour.
